Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Your Quran Mentor website or enrol a learner, how we use it, and the choices you have. Written in plain language wherever possible — legalese only where it is genuinely needed.

1. Who we are
Your Quran Mentor ("we", "us", "the academy") is an online educational organisation providing live one-to-one Quran and Islamic Studies classes. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us at support@yourquranmentor.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to teach, schedule and support lessons. In practice this means:
When you request a trial or enrol
- Identity and contact data — name, email address, WhatsApp or phone number, and (where relevant) time zone.
- Learner data — the age group, current level, course interest and any notes you choose to share about the learner.
- Preferences — teacher preferences (e.g. female teacher) and preferred lesson times.
- Payment data — for enrolled learners, whatever payment method you use. Full card details are handled by our payment processor and never reach our servers.
When you contact us
- Whatever you include in the message, plus the email address or phone number you contacted us from.
When you browse the site
- Basic technical data (browser, device type, pages viewed) collected via analytics — see section 9.
3. How we use it
We use your information only to run the academy and communicate with you about the lessons you've asked us to arrange. Specifically:
- To respond to a trial request, match a teacher, and confirm a lesson time.
- To deliver lessons, share materials and record progress notes.
- To take payment for enrolled learners and send reminders about upcoming lessons.
- To respond to your questions or feedback.
- To improve the academy — for example, understanding which courses are most requested or which pages learners find useful.
We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising profiles, and we do not use your information to send unrelated marketing.
4. Our legal basis
Where data protection law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing, we rely on:
- Contract — to arrange and deliver the lessons you have requested.
- Legitimate interest — to reply to enquiries, prevent fraud, and keep the service secure.
- Consent — where we ask separately (for example, for optional analytics cookies or publishing any feedback with your name).
- Legal obligation — to retain certain financial records where required.
6. Children's privacy
Many of our learners are children. Where a learner is under 16, we expect a parent or guardian to make the trial request, agree to these terms on the learner's behalf, and remain reachable for scheduling and updates.
We collect information about a child only where it is directly relevant to teaching — the learner's first name, age group, level and any notes you share. We do not use a child's information for marketing, profiling or any purpose beyond their lessons.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed:
- Trial enquiries that do not proceed — up to 12 months, so we can pick up where we left off if you return.
- Active learner records — for the duration of enrolment, plus 24 months after last lesson, so progress and plans can be resumed.
- Payment records — retained for the period required by applicable financial regulations.
- Analytics data — aggregated and typically retained for up to 26 months.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see section 8.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
- Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on it.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@yourquranmentor.com. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for reasonable requests.
10. International transfers
We teach learners across multiple countries and use service providers whose servers may be located outside your own. Where information is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards — including standard contractual clauses where required — so that your information continues to be protected.
11. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information: encryption in transit, access controls, and a strict internal policy that only staff who need to see a record can see it. No system is completely secure, and if we ever become aware of a breach that affects your information, we will contact you promptly.
12. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change, and always note the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated by email to anyone with an active enrolment. Continued use of the academy after an update means you accept the revised policy.
13. Contact
