Questions

Everything you might want to ask

Answers to the questions we are asked most often — grouped by what you are probably trying to decide. If yours isn't here, send it with a trial request or message and we'll answer directly.

Getting started

The questions people ask before deciding whether to book a trial.

No. Beginners are welcome across every course and every programme. For total beginners we recommend starting with the Foundational Qaida Course — it begins with recognising and pronouncing the individual Arabic letters, so no prior reading ability is assumed.

You don't have to figure it out alone. Select "Not sure yet — please advise" on the trial form and the teacher will assess the learner's level and recommend a starting point. If you'd rather browse first, our Who We Teach page explains how the six programmes differ.

A real lesson, not a sales demo. Your teacher checks the learner's current level, works through a short passage or exercise, and shows how a normal session runs. You'll see their manner, pace and method before committing to anything — and you'll receive a recommendation for a starting course and plan.

Yes, it is genuinely free and there is no obligation to continue. We don't collect payment details during the trial. If the lesson isn't a good fit, you owe nothing and there's no follow-up pressure.

Usually within a day. We reply by email or WhatsApp — whichever you told us you prefer — with a suggested teacher, a suggested starting course and two or three lesson times. If we can't match your preferred window immediately, we'll say so honestly and propose the closest alternative.

Courses & curriculum

How courses are structured, and how the pieces fit together.

A course is a subject — Tajweed, Hifz, Arabic, Fiqh. A pathway is a sequence of courses connected in order — for example the Foundations Pathway from letters to fluent reading. A programme is who the learning is shaped for — Children, Sisters, Reverts, Families. Most learners fit one programme and pick courses inside it.

Yes, and many families do — for example pairing Quran reading with Islamic Studies, or Tajweed with Hifz. Your teacher will help you balance them and can either combine them into one lesson plan or split them across separate sessions, depending on what works best for the learner.

It depends on the course, the learner and how often they study — and we are honest about that rather than quoting a fixed number. As a rough guide, Qaida typically takes six to twelve months, Tajweed six to nine months, and Hifz depends entirely on how much the learner wants to memorise. Individual course pages give more specific guidance.

Materials are included. Your teacher shares any texts, worksheets or recordings used in lessons at no extra cost, either as PDFs or as a link to an online reader. You do not need to buy physical books — although some families prefer to have a printed Mushaf alongside the lessons.

Teachers & scheduling

How teachers are chosen and how lessons fit around real life.

Four stages: qualification review, live recitation assessment, a teaching trial observed by our team, and ongoing review through learner feedback. No teacher reaches a learner without passing all four. The full process is on the Our Teachers page.

Yes — female teachers are available across every course and every age, not only for adult sisters. Note your preference in the trial request and we will match accordingly. See the Sisters Programme for the full picture.

Tell us and we'll arrange another teacher. No awkwardness, no charge for the change, and no disruption to progress — the new teacher picks up from the current plan. Fit matters more to us than filling a slot.

Yes — we teach learners across multiple continents and match teachers to your local hours. Tell us your preferred window (morning, evening, weekend) and your time zone when you request a trial, and we'll propose times that work. All lessons are scheduled in your local time, not ours.

Reschedule through your usual point of contact with reasonable notice. There are no penalties for genuine reasons — illness, travel, exams. We'd rather move a lesson than have you lose it. If you need to pause for a longer period, we'll hold the plan and resume when you're ready.

Trials & enrolment

What it takes to go from browsing to your first lesson.

The learner's age, what they'd like to study (or "not sure yet"), their current level if they have one, your time zone and your preferred lesson window. A short note about goals helps too, but isn't essential — the teacher will fill in the gaps during the trial.

We share the pricing options and payment arrangements during the trial conversation — no payment details are collected before you've decided to continue, and no surprises afterwards. For families coordinating multiple learners, we can set up a single invoice.

Yes. If you're enrolling siblings or a whole family, mention it in the trial request and we'll either arrange back-to-back trials with the same teacher where appropriate, or separate trials with teachers matched to each learner. See the Family Programmes page for how coordinated scheduling works.

Technical & practical

What you need to join a class, and how lessons are delivered.

A device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and a quiet space. A laptop, desktop or tablet all work — a phone is possible but cramped for shared screen reading. For Recitation Fluency & Beautification, headphones are strongly recommended so the teacher can hear your voice accurately.

You'll receive a private class link before each lesson — no downloads or installs required. The teacher can share their screen to display Quranic text, worksheets or recordings, and lessons can be recorded on request so you can review them afterwards.

Around five is the usual starting age for children, though some younger learners do well if they can sit for short sessions. If you're unsure whether a child is ready, request a trial — the teacher will tell you honestly whether the timing is right or whether it would be better to wait.

Children & families

Questions parents ask before enrolling their children.

For children under eight, sessions usually run 20 to 30 minutes, two or three times a week. Younger learners focus better in shorter, more frequent sessions than one long one. The teacher will recommend a specific rhythm for your child based on the trial.

For very young children, a parent nearby often helps — either in the room or within hearing distance. As the child settles, most families step back. You'll get regular written updates regardless, so you always know what's being covered and how the child is progressing.

We teach one-to-one, so siblings don't share a lesson — but their lessons can be scheduled back-to-back with the same teacher, which often works well for families. Where siblings are learning the same material at a similar level, the teacher may occasionally pair them for a joint practice, but each learner still receives individual attention.

About the academy

Who we are and how we operate.

We teach online, to learners across multiple continents. Our faculty is distributed, which is why time zones matter more to us than geography — the schedule fits the learner's location, not ours.

Specific terms are shared during the trial conversation, but the general principle is straightforward: if something isn't working within the early weeks, tell us and we'll resolve it — whether that means a different teacher, a different course, or a refund. We'd rather have an honest conversation than hold onto a booking that isn't right.

We are a fee-based academy — teachers are paid properly for their work, materials are provided, and the fees fund the standards we hold. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't have a free tier subsidised by upsells. The trial is free because we'd rather earn the enrolment than pressure you into it.
