Terms of Service
These terms govern enrolment, lessons and use of the Your Quran Mentor website. They are written to be readable — please read them before booking a trial or enrolling a learner.
Last updated: 1 January 2025
1. Acceptance
By requesting a trial, enrolling a learner, or otherwise using the Your Quran Mentor website or services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the academy.
Where you are enrolling a learner under 16, you confirm that you are the learner's parent or legal guardian and that you agree to these terms on their behalf.
2. About the academy
Your Quran Mentor provides live one-to-one online lessons in Quran recitation, Tajweed, Hifz, Quranic Arabic, Islamic Studies and related subjects. Lessons are delivered remotely, using video conferencing, by teachers we have assessed and matched to the learner.
3. Eligibility & enrolment
Enrolment is open to learners of all ages, subject to the following:
- Learners under 16 must be enrolled by a parent or guardian.
- You are responsible for providing accurate information about the learner's age, level and any relevant needs or circumstances.
- You confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement on behalf of any learner you enrol.
4. Lessons & scheduling
Lessons are scheduled at times agreed between you and the academy, matched to your time zone. Once a recurring schedule is set, it continues unless you or we tell the other otherwise.
- Lesson length and frequency are agreed with the teacher and may be adjusted as the learner progresses.
- You are responsible for ensuring the learner attends lessons on time, with working equipment and a quiet space.
- We may occasionally need to reschedule a lesson — for example, if a teacher is unwell — and will give as much notice as possible.
5. Payment & fees
Current fees and payment options are shared with you before you enrol, and any changes are communicated in advance. Payment is due according to the schedule you and the academy have agreed.
- Payment covers one-to-one lesson time and any materials the teacher shares within lessons.
- Additional costs (for example, a printed Mushaf or an external exam fee) are never incurred on your behalf without your prior consent.
- Failure to pay may result in lessons being paused until the outstanding amount is settled.
6. Cancellation, rescheduling & refunds
We aim to be reasonable about the realities of family life:
- Reschedule a lesson through your usual point of contact with reasonable notice, and we will move the lesson at no cost.
- Short-notice cancellations may, at the academy's discretion, count as a used lesson — for example, where the teacher has already prepared for the session.
- If you wish to withdraw entirely, tell us in writing. Any refund of unused lessons is at the academy's discretion and reflects the number of lessons already delivered.
- If a lesson is cancelled by the academy (teacher unavailable, platform outage), we will offer a make-up lesson or a credit.
7. Teacher changes
If a teacher is not the right fit — for any reason — tell us and we will arrange a different teacher. There is no charge for a teacher change and progress carries across. We aim to make transitions as smooth as possible so the learner's rhythm is not interrupted.
8. Conduct
We expect everyone who uses the academy — learners, parents and guardians — to treat teachers and staff with respect. In return, teachers are expected to treat learners with patience, dignity and courtesy, and to maintain professional boundaries at all times.
We may decline to continue lessons where conduct is abusive, unsafe or otherwise disruptive. Where it is safe and appropriate, we will discuss any concern with you before doing so.
9. Intellectual property
Materials shared within lessons — worksheets, recordings, reading guides, teaching notes — are provided for the personal use of the enrolled learner. They may not be reproduced, redistributed, sold or published, whether commercially or otherwise, without our written permission.
The website content, including course descriptions, structural elements and written copy, is our intellectual property and is protected by copyright.
10. Recording lessons
Lessons are not recorded by default. With your consent, a teacher may record a lesson for the learner's own revision purposes — for example, to help a Hifz student revise. Any recording is stored securely and is not used for any other purpose.
You agree not to record lessons independently and to publish or share the recording, unless you have our express written agreement to do so.
11. Limitation of liability
We take the quality of our teaching seriously, but we cannot guarantee a specific learning outcome — progress depends on the learner, their practice and their circumstances. Our liability for any loss arising from the service is limited to the fees paid for the affected lessons.
We are not liable for interruptions caused by your internet connection, device or environment, or for events outside our reasonable control.
12. Termination
You may end your enrolment at any time by telling us in writing. We may end it — with reasonable notice — if fees are persistently unpaid, if conduct repeatedly breaches these terms, or if continuing would not be in the learner's interest.
13. Governing law
Specific governing law and jurisdiction provisions will be confirmed before launch, based on the academy's registration and the jurisdictions in which it serves learners. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer protection laws of your own country.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally — for example, if our fees structure or service changes. Material changes will be communicated by email to anyone with an active enrolment at least 14 days before they take effect.
